Workings of Precious Metals

An enriching encounter of two worlds.

Religious art, liturgical objects, enriched with metals and precious stones from our soil and mostly worked with the skills inherited from our pre-Hispanic ancestors.  Important jewels treasured in the Cathedral for over 400 years.
Among the shown pieces the "La Moratilla" monstrance stands out, made by the Spanish goldsmith Francisco Moratilla, chamber silversmith of Queen Elizabeth II. It obtained a prize in the Spanish Industry Exhibit and in the London Universal Exhibit (1851).
In this room art pieces of the Mannerist style are also shown, as well as baroque and of the Cusco art school. Also noticeable are the wooden sculptures of a Belgian origin of 10 of the 12 Apostles.
